Orthodontics Warsaw– Niewada Clinic

Orthodontics is not only aligning the teeth. This is the stage of dental treatment that will give you a dazzling smile and a stable bite. Our orthodontists are doctors with huge experience who use safe and effective methods.
At Niewada Clinic we appreciate the importance of modern orthodontic treatment.
Invisible orthodontic treatment – Invisalign and Clear Aligner
Invisalign aligners are a modern method that allows to straighten teeth in an almost completely invisible way. These clear trays are made of a strong thermoplastic material of appropriate medical grade, customized to meet the individual needs of the patient and their teeth. They are designed on the basis of a prepared treatment plan and specialist assessments carried out.
The purpose of the aligners is to move the teeth in the proper timing. Each set of trays is worn by the patient for about two weeks, then changed to the next set in the kit, which continues to gradually move the teeth toward the planned position.
At each stage of treatment, only selected teeth are moved, according to the detailed treatment plan specified for that stage. This allows the efficient interaction with your teeth.
Advantages of the aligners Invisalign/Clear Aligner:
Thanks to smooth surfaces and proper fit of the aligners, the patient does not feel any discomfort, as opposed to the traditional braces.
Easier hygiene. The aligners are removable, which makes daily prophylaxis, such as brushing and flossing, much easier than in the case of traditional braces.
They are transparent. Hardly anyone will notice the Invisalign aligners. Still the effect after the treatment will be for sure noticed right away.
Shorter appointments to the dentist’s office, lack of additional appointments to correct the configuration of the braces.
Ability to visualize the end result already during the first appointment. This allows the patient to see the final plan for tooth movements.
Orthodontics and treatment with tooth appliances
At Niewada Clinic we use a special type of braces that are extremely small in size, making them more aesthetic and comfortable. For patients who, for various reasons, decide not to have metal braces, we may offer a more aesthetic solution, which is clear, ceramic brackets in the color of the tooth.
The visible part of these appliances, however, remains the thin metal archwire by which the teeth are arranged in the right position. Thanks to such solutions, orthodontics in our clinic is not only effective, but also does not create discomfort.
Orthodontic microscrews – help in treatment of malocclusion
If necessary, we use orthodontic microimplants in our patients. These are small sized metal screws used to treat malocclusion in both adults and children. Like classic implants, they are placed in the jawbone between the teeth for the duration of treatment and provide an anchor point for elastic bands. This is an extremely helpful element in the treatment of many malocclusions, as it allows the teeth to be moved in the desired direction, facilitates control, and significantly speeds up the treatment process, making the orthodontics performed this way even more effective.
Corticotomy – surgically assisted orthodontics
We also use corticotomy in time-sensitive patients. This procedure is an effective adjunct to orthodontic treatment in adult patients. It significantly reduces the time spent wearing braces, up to 1/4 of the time provided for conventional treatment.
The corticotomy is a surgical procedure that involves gently incising the bone around the teeth to stimulate the bone for remodeling. It results in faster and easier movement of teeth with braces. Performed under local anesthesia, it is neither complicated nor associated with intense pain. The procedure takes about 40 minutes and, quoting the patients: „There’s nothing to be afraid of”.
It is important to remember that the surgical support for orthodontic treatment helps to accelerate the movement of teeth to align properly the dental arch. But the fact is that sometimes this technique is indispensable to get the best results of a proper bite and smile. However, it is also important to remember that it is the orthodontist who determines the best treatment plan for the patient.
FAQ
How does the orthodontic treatment in Niewada Clinic
proceed?
The first step necessary to plan treatment is to perform detailed assessments and analyze them. Most of these are done already during the first appointment. The next appointment is devoted to reviewing the patient’s assessments results and determining further proceedings. During this appointment we explain how the treatment process will work, how long it will take, and whether additional procedures or appliances are planned.
We will then ask you to choose the type of braces and the most convenient time to begin your therapy. When in doubt, our doctors will answer all your questions. Finally, we will introduce the team that will accompany you during treatment.
The first days with braces
It usually takes a few days to get used to the braces. The teeth are then sensitive to biting and the protruding parts of the braces can irritate the mucous membrane of the cheeks and lips. The mucosa quickly adapts to the new situation.
We recommend that our patients restrict their diet to only soft, liquid meals for the first few days.
Is orthodontic treatment suitable for everyone?
Unfortunately not, orthodontic treatment cannot be performed on people with active periodontal disease called “periodontitis”. In patients undergoing periodontal treatment, if the disease is in remission, or dormant, braces may be placed.
It is also not a solution for undisciplined people who do not take care of their oral hygiene. Braces make it significantly more difficult to clean your teeth and can cause tooth caries, unsightly decalcification on the enamel surface or gingivitis.
How does the process of orthodontic treatment with Invisalign/ Clear Aligner work?
- Consultation appointment
After getting acquainted with the patient’s expectations and qualifying for treatment using the Invisalign aligners, the patient is referred for specialized examinations necessary to start the treatment including x-ray examination, taking digital scans with intraoral scanner or impressions.
- Treatment process
The patient receives a set of customized trays prepared based on previous records. The aligners should be replaced every 2 weeks, according to the treatment plan that has been arranged earlier. Every 6 to 8 weeks, the orthodontist will schedule follow-up appointments with the patient to check on the progress of treatment and to dispense the next trays.
- Final effect
Once treatment is complete, a thin wire retention appliance is required to keep the teeth in their new, aligned position.
The time of treatment with Invisalign aligners, just like with braces, depends on the complexity of the case and takes about the same amount of time as the traditional solutions. The approximate treatment time is given by the orthodontist after reviewing the situation and expectations of the patient.
Orthodontic treatment – how to get prepared?
Before therapy can begin, the patient’s dental situation must meet several conditions:
All the teeth have to be treated
No stains or calculus
Sufficient quantity and quality of bone
no acute inflammation of the periodontium – the tissues that support the teeth
Why is orthodontic treatment worthwhile?
Facial aesthetics improvement
Easier oral hygiene
Decreased risk of bruxism, or teeth grinding
Reduced susceptibility of teeth to caries
Better state of the periodontium – the tissues that support the teeth
Adult patients who require prosthetic or implant treatment can, and sometimes must, have orthodontic treatment, which effectively reduces the extent of prosthetics or implants use and improves the final result.
How long does orthodontic treatment last?
Treatment with fixed braces usually lasts 18 to 24 months. The routine orthodontic appointments take place once a month. If for some reason your braces become damaged, you can contact your health care provider without worry.
After the braces are removed, we clean the glue off the teeth and polish them. This is a stage of work to which we pay very close attention, because the absence of glue and clean teeth prevent gingivitis. A thin wire, called a retainer, is attached to the inner surface of the upper and lower teeth to maintain the new, correct position of the teeth.
This is known as the retention phase, which lasts for three years on average. The first follow-up will be scheduled up to 4 weeks after the removal of the braces, followed by maintenance appointments at 3 and 6 months.
What are orthodontic miniscrews?
These are titanium screws that are small in size. They are placed in the bone between the roots of the teeth. Thanks to the use of mini-implants in orthodontic treatment, it becomes even more effective. In Niewada Clinic we insert mini-implants under local anaesthesia with The Wand, so that the procedure is completely painless and the patient does not feel any discomfort.
How to care for teeth during orthodontic treatment?
Orthodontic braces require the patient to have proper and thorough oral hygiene. Brushing the braces takes more time and requires the use of additional accessories, such as an orthodontic or interdental brush or special dental floss.
We recommend that our patients visit the hygiene office regularly, as nothing can clean teeth as thoroughly and competently as professional tools in the hands of our hygienist. In addition, proper hygiene makes the orthodontics in our clinic run smoothly and without unnecessary complications.
What happens after the removal of the braces?
includes: upper removable appliance for overnight wear and lower fixed retainers that are bonded to the lingual surface of the lower six front teeth.
