Invisible orthodontic treatment – Invisalign and Clear Aligner

Invisalign overlays are a modern method that allows you to straighten your teeth in an almost completely invisible way.

These are transparent overlays made of strong, medical-grade thermoplastic material, tailored to the individual needs of the patient and his teeth. They are performed on the basis of a prepared treatment plan and specialized tests.

The purpose of the overlays is to move the teeth in an appropriate time interval. The patient wears each overlay for about two weeks, then replaces it with the next overlay from the set, which is then gradually designed to move the teeth towards the planned position.

At each stage of treatment, only selected teeth are moved, in accordance with the overlay treatment plan specified for that stage. This allows it to effectively affect the teeth.

Advantages of Invisalign/Clear Aligner overlays:

Thanks to smooth surfaces and proper fitting of the overlays, unlike classic orthodontic appliances the patient does not feel any discomfort.

Easier hygiene. The overlays are removable, making daily preventive care, such as brushing or flossing, much easier than with classic orthodontic braces.

They are transparent. Hardly anyone will notice Invisalign aligners. However, the effect will certainly be noticed immediately after the treatment is completed.

Shorter visits to the dentist’s office, not requiring visits to correct the position of the braces.

Possibility to visualize the final effect already during the first visit. Thanks to this, the patient can see the target tooth movement plan.

Leczenie ortodontyczne w Niewada Clinic

Orthodontics and treatment with dental braces.

At Niewada Clinic, we use a special type of extremely small braces, which makes them more aesthetic and comfortable. For patients who, for various reasons, do not choose metal orthodontic braces, we can offer a more aesthetic solution: transparent, tooth-colored ceramic brackets.

However, the visible part of such braces remains a thin metal arch, by means of which the teeth are set in the right positions. Thanks to such solutions, orthodontics in our clinic is not only effective, but also does not cause discomfort.

Orthodontic micro implants – help in the treatment of malocclusions

If necessary, we use orthodontic micro implants in our patients. These are small, metal elements used to treat malocclusions in both adults and children. Just like classic implants, they are placed in the maxillary and mandibular bones between the teeth for the duration of treatment and constitute an attachment point for the traction devices. This is an extremely helpful element in the treatment of many malocclusions, it allows you to move the teeth in the selected direction, facilitates control, and significantly speeds up the treatment process, making orthodontics performed in this way even more effective.

Corticotomy – Surgically assisted orthodontics

For people who are pressed for time, we also use corticotomy. A treatment that is an effective method of supporting orthodontic treatment in adult patients. It significantly shortens the time spent wearing orthodontic braces, up to 1/4 of the time expected for conventional treatment.

Corticotomy is a surgical procedure that involves a gentle incision in the bone around the teeth, mobilizing the bone for remodeling. It results in faster and easier movement of teeth treated with braces. Performed under local anesthesia, it is not complicated and does not involve severe pain. The procedure takes about 40 minutes and, as the patients themselves describe: “There is nothing to be afraid of.”

It is worth remembering that surgical support for orthodontic treatment helps to accelerate tooth movements to position them correctly in the dental arch. The fact is that sometimes this technique is necessary to obtain the best results of a correct bite and smile. However, you should also remember that it is the orthodontist who determines the best treatment plan for the patient.

Orthodontics and treatment at the highest level

At Niewada Clinic, we make sure that orthodontic treatment is tailored to the patient’s needs. We use invisible Invisalign and Clear Aligner overlays, dental braces and orthodontic microimplants, and if the patient wants a shorter treatment time: corticotomy.

FAQ / Orthodontics

How is orthodontic treatment performed at Niewada Clinic?

The first stage necessary to plan treatment is to perform detailed tests and analyze them. We perform most of them during the first visit. The next visit is devoted to familiarizing the patient with the test results and the agreed further course of action. We explain how the treatment process will proceed, how long it will last and whether additional treatments or appliances are planned.

Then we will ask you to choose the type of braces and the most convenient date to start the therapy. If you have any doubts, our doctors will answer all your questions. Finally, we will present the team that will accompany the patient during treatment.

How long does it take to get used to braces?

It usually takes a few days to get used to braces. The teeth are then sensitive to biting, and the protruding parts of the appliance may irritate the mucous membrane of the cheeks and lips. The mucous membrane quickly adapts to the new situation.

We recommend our patients to limit themselves to soft, liquid meals only for the first few days.

What is the process of orthodontic treatment with Invisalign/Clear Aligner?

1. Consultation visit:
After learning about the patient’s expectations and qualifying for treatment with Invisalign overlays, the patient is directed to undergo specialized tests needed to start treatment, including: X-ray examinations, digital scans with an intraoral scanner or impressions.

2. Treatment process:
The patient receives a set of overlays tailored to individual needs, prepared on the basis of previously performed tests. The overlays should be replaced every 2 weeks, according to the established treatment plan. Every 6-8 weeks, the orthodontist arranges follow-up visits with the patient to check the effects of treatment progress and issue further overlays. The entire treatment process takes place under the supervision of a doctor!

3. Final result:
After the treatment is completed, the use of a retainer in the form of a thin wire is required to keep the teeth in a new, straight position.

The treatment time with Invisalign overlays, just like with orthodontic braces, depends on the complexity of the case and takes approximately the same time. The approximate treatment time is provided by the orthodontist after reviewing the patient’s results and expectations.

Orthodontic treatment – How to prepare?

Before starting therapy, the patient’s dental condition must meet several conditions:

– all teeth treated
– no plaque or tartar
– sufficient quantity and quality of bones
– no acute inflammation of the periodontium – the tissues that hold the tooth

Why is it worth undergoing orthodontic treatment?

– improvement of facial aesthetics
– easier oral hygiene
– lower risk of bruxism, i.e. teeth grinding
– less tendency of teeth to decay
– better condition of the periodontium – the tissues that hold the teeth

Adult patients who require prosthetic or implant treatment can, and sometimes even have to, undergo orthodontic treatment, which effectively reduces the scope of use of prosthetics or implants and improves the final effect.

How long does orthodontic treatment take?

Treatment with fixed braces usually lasts from 18 to 24 months. Follow-up visits take place once a month. If for any reason the device is damaged, you can contact your doctor without any worries.

After removing the braces, we clean the teeth from glue and polish them. This is a stage of work to which we pay great attention, because the lack of glue and clean teeth prevent gingivitis. We attach a thin wire to the inner surface of the upper and lower teeth. retainer, whose task is to maintain the new, correct position of the teeth.

This is the so-called a retention phase that lasts on average three years. The first check-up will be scheduled for up to 4 weeks after the braces are removed, and the next check-ups will be scheduled after 3 and 6 months.

What are orthodontic mini implants?

Dental mini implants are small titanium screws. Placed in the bone between the roots of the teeth. Thanks to the use of mini-implants in orthodontic treatment, it becomes even more effective. At Niewada Clinic, we install mini-implants under The Wand local anesthesia, thanks to which the procedure is completely painless and the patient does not feel any discomfort.

How to care for your teeth during orthodontic treatment?

An orthodontic appliance requires the patient to perform proper and thorough oral hygiene. Brushing teeth with braces on them takes more time and requires the use of additional accessories, e.g. orthodontic or interdental brushes and special dental flosses.

We recommend our patients to visit the dental hygiene office regularly, because nothing can clean their teeth as thoroughly and professionally as professional tools in the hands of our hygienist. Additionally, proper hygiene makes orthodontics in our clinic run smoothly and without unnecessary complications.

What happens after the orthodontic braces are removed?

After removing the orthodontic appliance, we perform retention treatment for each patient, which most often includes: an upper removable appliance (to be worn at night) and a lower permanent retainer, glued to the lingual surface of the six lower front teeth.

Orthodontics plays a key role in creating a fully functional and healthy smile. We will help you choose the optimal path of orthodontic treatment!
